Why do most people who buy a VR headset stop using it shortly afterwards?

A place to discuss any and all things Virtual Reality. I just went through one of those great up and downs in my life. I was up when researching what you can do with a VR headset(mostly for gaming) and I am currently down due to the sheer amount of doom and gloom that exists when you do enough research. With a VR headset you can watch movies/tv shows/documentaries/space shuttle videos/museum tours etc in real 3D on a giant screen without the need to invest in an expensive monitor or tv. You can play a lot of games with objectively the most immersive controls available currently. You can mod older games to be played the same way or simply experience them in the 3d cinema mode. You can enjoy Bioshock for example from a perspective that will make you feel and think like you are actually there. The level design, environmental story telling and surprises should all feel much more impactful and memorable. You can workout, connect with other vr users that might be an ocean away, experience things you would never have a chance to otherwise. I thought that it was the perfect time to enter vr with the Quest 3(because it gives you access to meta and pc games), but now I am having doubts. The statistics surrounding vr are soul crushing.
